Although Walk began trading in October 2010, the first clinic session didn't actually occur until November 2010. To be precise it was the 6th November 2010 - exactly four years ago today.
I remember that we had moved the equipment and stock to the dental practice a couple of weeks before we went live, and it was placed in an adjacent room while the finishing touches were applied to our room. When we arrived on the Saturday morning we were told that our room was ready, so we had a mad dash to move everything and set up in the new room.
At that stage the room was pretty bare, and didn't really have the finishing touches that it does now. Still, it's been nice to see the room change over the years, and this echoes the changes that have occurred in the business. Not only in terms of the physical layout, but also in terms of my development and growth. The business has grown and I believe that I have grown alongside it, both as a business director and clinically as a podiatrist.
So, it's time to start looking towards the future and wondering what will happen within Walk. I'm really excited and extremely passionate about what I do there. The patients and their outcomes are central to the philosophy at Walk, and while it's still a business and needs to generate an income, I sincerely believe that good service is based on honesty, with a sound rationale and knowledge base.
I'm truly grateful for the support that I've had from patients, colleagues and family. Thank you to everyone who has been, and continues to be, involved in Walk. Here's to the next four years!
